Chapelle Sainte-Madeleine
A cave chapel tucked into the basalt rock of the hamlet of Escluzels, right on the Way. A place of contemplation for many pilgrims.
On the WayA restaurant and bar on the Way of St James. Homemade cooking with local produce, a drink at the bar, and the welcome that gave us our name. Opening 14 September 2026.
After miles on the trail, a door opens — a fire crackles, a table awaits. Here, you leave with a lighter heart.
The Way of St James is not walked with the legs alone. When evening comes, we welcome you as friends — to rest the body, and the mind.
A door you push open without ceremony. We learn your name, we remember your story, and we look after you like a dear friend passing through. That is what our name is all about.
After the day's stage, you need to recover properly. Comfortable bedding, hot showers with no time limit, a corner to rest tired legs, and sound advice to look after your body all the way to Santiago.
The silence of the countryside, a fire, a few shared words. A stop where you find yourself as much as you rest — because the Way is also an inner journey.
“Traveller, there is no path; the path is made by walking.”
Antonio MachadoEat, share a drink — and stay the night from March 2027. One inn for all three, with the same warmth.
Generous, homemade cooking with produce from the region. A 22€ lunch menu, à la carte in the evening, pizzas and snacks in the afternoon — and proper breakfasts to keep you going all day.
Where the stories of the Way are told. Regional wine, local beer, and the kind of encounters you never forget.
From cosy rooms to family rooms, each with a private shower room and the calm of the countryside. Work is under way: the hotel will open in March 2027.

We cook what the region gives us. At lunchtime, a full menu to set you back on your feet; in the afternoon, something to nibble on, no fuss; in the evening, the à la carte menu and the wine to go with it. And first thing in the morning, a breakfast that lasts until the next stage.

On the Way
One of the last wild rivers in Europe, carved deep into the basalt. The breathtaking setting that surrounds the inn.
On the inn's doorstep
The basalt peak that watches over the valley — and long gave this house its name.
Above the village
A handful of stone-slab roofs at the foot of the basalt columns, deep in the valley. The kind of place where you stay longer than planned.
Around the inn
Rafting, kayaking, canyoning and via ferrata in the gorges — for those who want an active rest day.

The historic starting point of the Via Podiensis: the cathedral, the statue of Notre-Dame de France, the fervour of the origins.
